Zenotonil Plus For Dogs

Vetoquinol Zentonil - Prescription Req'd

Zentonil® (S-Adenosylmethionine)

The only S-Adenosylmethionine product on the veterinary market available in three strengths for more accurate dosing.

One of your dog's largest internal organs, the liver, is responsible for vital metabolic and biochemical processes. One of the primary functions is providing pathways for disposal of waste products and the production of antioxidants such as glutathione peroxidase.

In a recent study, 51% of dogs and 82% of cats with liver problems were reported to be deficient in glutathione.(1) Liver dysfunction often results in a drop in the production of S-Adenosylmethionine (SAMe), which leads to reduced levels of hepatic glutathione.

Symptoms of liver dysfunction are often vague and subtle and its causes often remains unclear. Regardless, support of the liver is crucial to ensure optimal health and longevity. The administration of SAMe is recommended to improve hepatic glutathione levels2 and has been shown to have a direct effect on liver enzymes, bile acids, and total bilirubin.

In a damaged liver, the enzyme that changes methionine into SAMe is deficient, causing insufficient SAMe production. Administration of supplemental same such as in Zentonil Plus SAMe is then metabolized for transmethylation for the synthesis of membrane phospholipids and proteins, cell membrane stabilization and detoxification as well as transulfuration for glutathione synthesis and aminopropylation for cell replication and regeneration.

Zentonil® (S-Adenosylmethionine) is available as a pure, stabilized salt of S-Adenosylmethionine (SAMe) and produced with high-quality compounds under strict pharmaceutical standards (unlike SAMe products for humans, that can vary significantly in quality and concentration) to provide a safe and effective therapeutic tool for the relief of hepatic distress.

S-Adenosylmethionine, as found in Zentonil®, has been proven to safely and effectively support and protect hepatocellular function in pets. Zentonil® protects hepatocytes from cell death(3) and contributes to hepatocellular(2) regeneration and is well tolerated with an exceptionally wide margin of safety. Zentonil® can also claim no reported adverse effects and no known drug interactions and may actually protect against oxidative tissue injury as can be caused by certain toxins or drugs such as acetaminophen, prednisone and others).
