Ibizan Hound |
The Ibizan Hound's drama doesn't come from its size, certainly there are larger dogs and sighthounds, nor from its coat, even as usual as the wire coat can be. The outline is not nearly as dramatic as other sighthounds like the Whippet and Greyhound. It even shares its color since the Pharoah Hound is also red (but ideally without the white). So where does the presence of the Ibizan Hound come from? Perhaps it is the calm, even tempered demeanor or those exquisite ears. Maybe the glory is that the Ibizan Hound's outline is glorious but simple and moderate. Regardless, this is one of the canine world's treasures whose existence may have even served as the inspiration for the God Anubis for the Egyptians (yes, it seems the breed is that old!) and you can be sure that Ibizan Hound fanciers know it! |

Trainer notes: The Ibizan Hound may not be as fast as some of the other coursing breeds but its remarkable agility and jumping ability more than makes up for it. The expression "turning on a dime, and giving you a nickel in change" must have been coined after seeing an Ibizan. As such, they are naturals for an athletic, fun and fast paced endeavor like Agility. |
